HELENA, Mont. – The City of Helena will host a Special Commission Meeting on Wednesday (May 3) to discuss an increase to the Mayor and Commission’s annual salaries, which would take effect January 1, 2024.
The meeting will be held in the Commission Chambers at the City-County Building starting at 3:45 p.m. Members of the public will also be able to participate via Zoom. Meeting details and a link to the agenda can be found at www.helenamt.gov/meetings/.

The last increase to the Mayor and Commission stipends was approved in 2017, effective January 1, 2020.
City Charter requires that any change in the salaries must be approved at least six months prior to a municipal election. If a change is approved, it cannot take effect until the commencement of terms after the next regular election. The deadline to enact any changes to the current stipends, prior to the next regular election, is May 7, 2023. Otherwise, an increase could not be made again until after the 2025 election.
