Transportation Systems

For tax year 2026, commercial property owners may apply to the City of Helena Transportation Systems Department to have a portion of their property re-evaluated as undeveloped for purposes of their Street Maintenance District Special Assessment calculation. Undeveloped is defined as “any portion of the lot or parcel that has not been altered from its natural state by the creation or addition of any buildings, structures, pavement, parking or storage, landscaping, or other improvements.” At least 40% of the lot or parcel must be deemed undeveloped by the Transportation Systems Department, per the above definition, to receive a reduced assessment. If any property owner believes their commercial property to meet this requirement, they may complete the “Request for Property Re-evaluation” form and return it to citystreetsdivision@helenamt.gov for review by AUGUST 30^th, 2026.
