City Launches Survey to Support Parks & Rec Master Plan

HELENA, Mont. — Helena residents are encouraged to share their input on the future of the city's parks, recreation facilities, programs, and urban pathways through a community survey now underway as part of the newly launched Parks & Recreation Master Plan update.
The plan will serve as a 10-year roadmap for Helena's parks and recreation system, guiding investments and improvements through 2035. The update will assess existing parks and facilities, identify community priorities, and develop recommendations to meet the needs of current and future residents.
A statistically valid survey has been mailed to a random sample of Helena households to help ensure feedback reflects the community as a whole, including residents from different neighborhoods and demographic groups. While only some households will receive the mailed survey, all residents can participate through an online survey available on the Be Heard Helena website and at helenaparksurvey.org.
In addition to the survey, the project team will host stakeholder meetings with representatives from recreation, sports, aquatics, and other engaged community groups, as well as host a pop-up booth at the Helena Farmers Market on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fuller Avenue. Community members are encouraged to stop by to learn more about the project and share their thoughts on Helena's parks and recreation future.
Additional opportunities for public involvement will be available throughout the planning process, which is scheduled to run through Spring/Summer 2027.
