Julia Gustafson was appointed to the Helena City Commission on January 7, 2026 to fill a term ending in 2027. Gustafson works for a statewide nonprofit, The Friends of the Montana Constitution, supports her husband’s business, Gulch Distillers, and is a parent to two school-aged children. Gustafson has been a dedicated community volunteer in Helena since 2010 involved in groups such as the Helena Community Gardens, Helena Food Share, YES for Helena Schools, the Montana Partnership to End Childhood Hunger, the City of Helena Parking Advisory Committee, and the Lewis & Clark County Election Office as an election judge. She enjoys gardening in her free time and is an enthusiastic bean-eater.
