The City of Helena has contracted with Northwest Landworks LLC to replace 485 feet of water main along 8th Ave. between N. Hoback Street and Idaho Ave. The new PVC water main will be laid approximately 20 feet north of the existing main. The existing cast iron main will be abandoned in place, due to its proximity to mature trees. The 8th Avenue water main replacement project includes replacing 15 water services/curb valves and installing two 8-inch gate valves. There is a hydrant assembly replacement planned on the southwest corner of 8th Avenue and Idaho Avenue. Temporary water service may be required periodically for affected residents. Three boulevard trees will be removed and replaced due to water services that conflict with trees.
