HELENA, Mont. —

TREE DAMAGE FROM SUNDAYS SNOW EVENT:

The City of Helena, Local Government will not collect debris from any privately owned trees. Please take all debris from private trees to the transfer station and do not put them in your dumpster. Branches from private trees placed on the boulevard will not be collected.

TO REPORT DAMAGE FROM BOULEVARD TREES:

Please report hanging branches or damaged trees through the My Helena App or call the Urban Forestry Division of Helena Parks and Recreation (406) 447-8426, or email cdaly@helenamt.gov. Due to the large volume of damaged trees, please be patient while we get to everything as quickly as we can.  It is not necessary to report down branches as city staff will be cleaning up every street on a grid pattern.

CITIZENS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CUT ON DAMAGED CITY TREES:

Damaged trees can be extremely hazardous. Stay away from damaged limbs and trees as they can be under extreme pressure and are often unpredictable and can cause serious harm when cut.

Our storm response priorities are:

  • hanging branches from boulevard trees
  • limbs or trees that are leaning on property such as cars, houses, and fences
  • clean up remaining debris including branches that are downed in boulevards

For more information, please contact the City of Helena Parks and Recreation Department at 406-447-8463.
