Mayor to Issue Proclamation for Health Equity Week

HELENA, Mont. — Helena City Mayor Emily Dean will issue a proclamation on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. on the steps of the City-County Building, 316 N. Park Ave., in recognition of Health Equity Week and the Walk USA for Health Equity Initiative.

The Walk USA for Health Equity is a five-year, 3,450-mile walking initiative founded by Dr. Dennis Godby, ND, to make health equity visible and encourage conversations about why factors such as ZIP code, income, education, housing and access to health care continue to influence health and life expectancy.

Godby began his walk across America five years ago in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. On Aug. 24, Godby began the fifth and final leg of the journey, starting in Bozeman, Montana and finishing in Seattle, Washington.
