HELENA, Mont. – Contract crews are currently conducting tree felling, pruning and slash piling operations in Helena’s Mt. Ascension Natural Park as part of the ongoing Backdrop Fuels Reduction Project. Crews began work this week in Unit #5 (see attached map) with no impact anticipated to occur for recreationalists using the nearby 2006 and Entertainment Trails. Signs alerting trail users to the ongoing forestry operations have been posted, but no trail closures are expected.
This project is supported by a grant from the Montana Forest Action Plan Program of the Montana Department of Natural Resources with funding from the State of Montana Fire Suppression Fund.
