West Main Reconstruction

The project limits are beginning near the intersection of Reeder’s Village and West Main Street and continuing south ending near the intersection of Grizzly Gulch Drive and Oro Fino Gulch. This project will reconstruct the water, sanitary sewer and storm drain facilities. The roadway and multi-modal facilities will also be reconstructed or installed. The multi-modal facilities are foreseen as sidewalks on both sides of the roadway and a climbing bike lane on the northwest side of the roadway. Project was budgeted in January, 2014.

Estimated Cost: $3,324,961

Status, May 2018: Construction has begun, and will continue likely through the end of July, 2018. Weekly updates are provided by the contractor here, and on Facebook.

Status as of March 2018: In June, 2017, the project was approved by Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA). At the June 12, 2017 City Commission meeting, the City Commission rejected all bids received on May 31, 2017.

The project was rebid in late winter, 2018, and was awarded on March 12, 2018 to Helena Sand and Gravel. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid- to late April, depending on weather. A public meeting will be held on March 29, 2018 at 6 pm in room 426 of the City-County Building at 316 N. Park.
