HELENA, Mont.— The City of Helena welcomes Christopher Brink to its leadership team after choosing Brink to serve as the next Community Development Director. Brink will be moving from South Carolina, where he is currently the Pickens County Community Development Director. His first day with the City will be May 16.
“My wife Courtney and I are excited to get to Montana and to call Helena home and to be a part of such a special and welcoming community,” says Brink. “Our visit to the city a few weeks ago was beyond memorable and needless to say, it wasn’t easy to leave. I am anxious to get back to Helena and start working with the Mayor and City Commission, the City Manager, the city’s management team, and city staff; contributing in some small way keeping Helena the special place it is.”
Brink will lead the City’s Community Development Department, which includes a Building Division and Planning Division. The Building Division conducts building and site plan reviews, issues building permits, and provides construction inspections. The Planning Division assists the community with planning, zoning, land use, or development matters. The Department also oversees the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
With over 25 years’ experience in Community Development, Brink, a Certified Planner, will bring a wealth of knowledge to Helena. He has served as Community Development Director in Pickens County since 2006. Prior to that, he worked in the Jackson County (Georgia) Department of Planning and Development from 2002 to 2006, including one year as Planning Division Manager.
Brink began his career in Montgomery, Alabama in 1995, where he worked as a Planner and GIS Administrator. He also filled those roles in Harris County, Georgia before being promoted to Community Development Director in 1999.
“The City of Helena is getting an incredibly talented and experienced Community Development Director,” says Interim City Manager, Tim Burton. “Christopher will be a tremendous addition to the department and City leadership team. I am confident he will do great work for the residents of Helena.”
Brink is a University of Alabama graduate, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography/Urban and Regional Planning with a minor in Political Science.
Chris has been married to his wife Courtney, a registered nurse, for 20 years. They have three adult children, Skye, Jonah and Annie. Chris is also a proud grandfather to Skye and her husband Jacob’s 7-month-old daughter, Aspen.
