HELENA, Mont.— The City of Helena invites the public to an Arbor Day event this Friday (April 30) that will serve as a celebration of the Civic Center’s 100-year anniversary. The event will run from 10-11 a.m. on the south lawn of the Civic Center, located at 340 Neill Ave. Activities will include a tree planting ceremony, music performed by the Helena Symphony, and remarks from Helena Mayor, Wilmot Collins, and other guest speakers.
The tree planting ceremony will feature the addition of two spruce trees to the Civic Center lawn. The trees replace 100-year-old spruce trees that were lost in a windstorm earlier this year.
The City will have a limited number of Spruce tree saplings to hand-out to attendees with information about best planting practices. Attendees are asked to follow current COVID guidelines, including mask wearing and social distancing.
The City of Helena is recognized as a Tree City USA Community by The Arbor Day Foundation. Mayor Collins will read the Arbor Day proclamation as part of Friday’s event.
