Commissioner Wicks

Commissioner Wicks was raised on a dry-land wheat farm in Liberty County.  She attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington where she received her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Public Relations, and an M.A. in Communications and Leadership.  Kali also holds an M.P.A. from the University of Montana in Missoula.

Kali has lived in Helena since 2007 when she began work for the State of Montana in the Housing Division at the Montana Department of Commerce.  Over the course of her career, Ms. Wicks has worked in facility planning, community and workforce development, higher education, and healthcare.  Kali currently works in Government Relations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana where she focuses on issues like access to affordable, quality healthcare, rural health policy development, and mental health and substance use disorder prevention.

Kali is an active member of the Helena community, serving as the Vice Chair of the Executive Board of the Career Training Institute and the Co-Chair of the Helena (Chamber) Leader’s Network.  Kali also serves as the Vice President of the Women’s Foundation of Montana Board, is a member of the Executive Board for the state’s HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Chapter, and is on the University of Montana’s MPA Alumni Advisory Board.  Kali is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Montana and a 2014 graduate of the Policy Institute’s Leadership Seminar Series (created by Montana’s U.S. Representative Pat Williams).  

Kali and her husband Andrew love living in Helena, and enjoy hiking the trails, cross country skiing, or spending time outdoors with friends in their spare time.
