About the Project

The Rodney Street Project is a multi-phase and multi-year project from Helena Avenue to Division Street. The project includes reconstruction of the roadway within the right-of-way including the street, traffic signals and signage, sidewalks, boulevards, drainage and water and sewer utilities. Improvements will incorporate current multi-modal and ADA standards.

Each phase of the project will go through the following process: conceptual and preliminary design with public input, final design, construction bidding and construction. The project phase locations, status and contacts and public input meeting schedules are as follows:

Phase I - Broadway to 9th Avenue
Phase II - 9th Avenue to Helena Avenue
Phase III - Helena Avenue to Lyndale Avenue and Broadway to Division Street.

This project also includes the proposed traffic signal removal study at Rodney & 6th Avenue.

Rodney Street Reconstruction Resumes (April 3, 2023)

On April 3, Helena Sand and Gravel began work on the Rodney Street Phase II reconstruction project, which will continue over the next few months. Most of the remaining work will be between 9th and 11th avenues. Construction includes new water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, landscaping, and asphalt paving.

Public Meetings

Phase I - Public Input process complete. Public meetings were held on Aug. 6, 2019, Aug. 15, 2019, Dec. 9, 2019 and March 5, 2020.

Phase II - Three virtual public open houses were held. The recaps will be included on this page under Resources as well as uploaded onto the City’s YouTube channel.

Bi-Weekly Progress Meetings
