Individuals interested in becoming a police officer with the City of Helena first must pass a written and physical test administered by the MT Law Enforcement Testing Consortium (MTLETC) multiple times a year. Individuals who pass both tests are placed on a hiring eligibility list for 12 months. When we have an opening, we will directly contact individuals on the current eligibility list letting them know we are accepting applications and how to apply.
Firefighters -registration for June 2017 will be open mid November
Individuals interested in be becoming a firefighter with the City of Helena first must pass a written and physical test administered by the MT Firefighter Testing Consortium once a year. Individuals who pass both tests are placed on a hiring eligibility list for 12 months. When we have an opening, we will directly contact individuals on the eligibility list letting them know we are accepting applications and how to apply.

Both Police Officers and Firefighters are confirmed by the City Commission after successfully completing their 12 month probationary period.
