Q. There's an abandoned vehicle on my street. How do I get it removed?

A.  A vehicle is considered abandoned if it has not been moved for 72 hours, the 72 hours begin once police mark the vehicle tire. After the 72 hours, if the vehicle has not been moved a parking citation warning placard will be placed on the vehicle. If the vehicle is not moved in 5 days then the vehicle will be towed.

If possible, get the vehicle name, model, year, color and license plate number. Q. Does your department have a citizen's ride along program and how to I arrange to ride with an officer?

A. The department does have a citizen's ride along program. Citizens can ride with an officer on a patrol shift. Citizens wishing to ride with an officer need to contact Lieutenant Jayson Zander at his email address or office phone number (406)-447-8474. A background check will be conducted and a ride-along will be scheduled during a time that works for the department and the citizen. When the citizen arrives to ride with the officer, a waiver of liability must be signed by the citizen. If under the age of 18, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian as well. A person riding with and officer can not carry any weapons of any kind or handcuffs. Exceptions may be made for sworn law enforcement officers from another jurisdiction.
