Focus Group Discussions to Highlight Parks and Recreation Planning

The city of Helena and Lewis and Clark County will be hosting focus group meetings to discuss the future of parks, trails, open space and recreation services in the area. Facilitated by park planning consultants, these meetings are part of a joint planning effort to update the City and County’s comprehensive parks plans.  Residents and representatives of various community organizations, teams, and clubs are encouraged to attend one of the meetings and provide input and help identify future needs, opportunities, issues and challenges.

The primary purpose of updating these plans is to create a clear set of goals and objectives to provide direction to the City-County Parks Board, city and county staff and commissions for on-going management/maintenance, re-development, growth and enhancement of the existing parks and future acquisition and development of new parkland in both the city and county.

A series of meetings are scheduled for April 25th  from 4:00–5:30 p.m. and from 6:00–7:30 p.m. in room 426 of the City-County Building and on April 26th from 9:00–10:30 a.m. in room 426.  A public meeting to summarize focus group discussions will be held from 6:00–7:30 p.m on April 26th in the Commission Chambers of the City-County Building.
