Law Enforcement Exploring is a worksite-based program, organized through the Boy Scouts of America, for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age, or are 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.

Law Enforcement Explorer posts help youth to gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement, Exploring offers experiential learning with lots of fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

The 2006, the Helena Police Department, in partnership with the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Helena Fire Department, re-chartered Post #5201 with the Boy Scouts of America as a public safety-oriented Post, emphasizing work and education in both Law Enforcement and Fire Services.

Post members have participated in training and education in such diverse fields as wild land firefighting, home safety and CPR/First Aid, to search/seizure, emergency vehicle operations and use of force.  Post members have also been involved in Child ID and safety events, local Boy Scout functions and assisted in several law enforcement training events.

Explorer Post #5201 is Advised by employees of the Helena Police Department, the Helena Fire Department and the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
