Joint Land Use Study (JLUS)
The Fort Harrison - Limestone Hills Training Area JLUS Implementation Project is a collaborative effort of several entities that builds upon the recently completed Joint Land Use Study (JLUS). Visit the implementation website here.
The JLUS identified and developed specific implementation actions to be carried out by participating communities, which will help to reduce or avoid conflicts between the military installation and the cities of Helena, Townsend, and Broadwater and Lewis & Clark Counties.
This collaboration will allow Fort Harrison to continue providing substantial economic contributions to the region, and sustain its military mission. In addition, participating communities will be better able to pursue their housing, land use, transportation and economic development goals and objectives.
Lewis and Clark County is the project's sponsor and a Coordination Committee of leadership and staff from the City of Helena, Broadwater County, Lewis and Clark County, and the Montana Army National Guard has been created to oversee the project.
