GROWTH POLICY AMENDMENT TO THE 2011 CITY OF HELENA GROWTH POLICY TO INCLUDE THE DOWNTOWN HELENA MASTER PLAN AS THE DOWNTOWN HELENA NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN

The City of Helena, Montana Business Assistance Connection (MBAC), and the Helena Business Improvement District (HBID) have partnered to develop a Downtown Helena Master Plan (DMP). WGM Group was hired to complete the document. Since 2015, the HBID has conducted numerous meetings and interviews with stakeholders and residents of the Downtown area. In April 2016, the HBID finalized the DMP and asked the City to incorporate the document into the 2011 Growth Policy as a Neighborhood Plan for the Downtown area.

The City of Helena-Lewis and Clark County Consolidated Planning Board held a public hearing on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, where they recommended adoption of the DMP as a Neighborhood Plan, and it is now scheduled for a public hearing for adoption by the City Commission this fall.

MEETING OF THE CITY OF HELENA CITY COMMISSION

On September 12, 2016, the Helena City Commission held a public hearing to consider a Resolution of Intent to adopt the DMP as a neighborhood plan within the City of Helena’s Growth Policy, which successfully passed.  A hearing will now be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Commission Chambers, Room 330, City/County Building, 316 North Park Avenue, Helena, MT to consider the following proposal:

  1. A resolution amending the 2011 City of Helena Growth Policy to include the 2016 Downtown Helena Master Plan as the Downtown Helena Neighborhood Plan (DHNP).

The DMP public hearing to adopt the above amendment to the Growth Policy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 in the Commission Chambers, Room 330, City/County Building, 316 North Park Avenue, Helena, MT.
